The 2025 edition may ultimately be remembered as the most dramatic tournament in Bearback history.
The opening round at Moon Lake belonged entirely to Brenden Fougere.
In a performance that stunned the field, Fougere carded a career-best 78, the lowest net score ever recorded at a Bearback Invitational. Every part of his game seemed to work flawlessly. Unfortunately for the rest of the field, Jaedon Carroll also played exceptional golf, shooting a 79. Under normal circumstances that score would have generated headlines. Instead, it merely left him chasing Fougere.
After lunch, the second round began.
Riding the emotional high of his morning masterpiece, Fougere came back to earth with a 94. Sensing opportunity, defending contenders began to attack.
David Ponich delivered one of the finest rounds in tournament history, playing the front nine in even par before finishing with a remarkable 78. Carroll remained in contention with an 87, but it was Ponich who emerged from Day One with a narrow lead heading into the final round.
Then the weather arrived.
The championship round at The Legends was contested in the harshest conditions the tournament has ever seen. Heavy rain fell throughout much of the day. The course sat virtually empty. There was no beer cart. No food service. Only golf, rain, and the championship.
What followed was a heavyweight battle between Ponich and Fougere.
Multiple lead changes occurred throughout the round. Fougere would surge ahead, only for Ponich to answer. Ponich would create separation, only for Fougere to respond. The championship remained undecided deep into the back nine.
Ultimately, Ponich seized control over the closing holes and never relinquished it, capturing the title by three strokes and securing his place among Bearback champions.
